National Geographic PRO Series Metal Detector Review

Great portable metal detector with a multitude of features and functions, I got this for my daughter who is 10 years old and has aspirations of becoming a treasure hunter or at least find buried treasure and this looked the ideal tool with it being lightweight and the different detection modes to help filter out some metals allowing her to better target what she is looking for.

It arrived in a nice long National Geographic branded box with a very nice glossy manual giving a step by step easy to follow instruction guide all written in English and a metal detector learning guide which not only gives some history on the innovation of metal detectors it also goes on to explain how they work giving some guidance on following the law with responsible metal detecting.

The metal detector folds up to a nice compact lightweight easily storable size but is also very simple to assemble and takes very little time, the handle and bottom telescopic just slides out with a release clip and locks in place at the desired height, the LCD monitor and adjustment screen just folds down with a simple press release button and the bottom angle of the detector head in adjustable to get the correct angle with a hand tighten screw.

After unpacking the metal detector we fitted four AA batteries (not supplied) which go in a little compartment under the LCD screen unit and it was ready to go, we gave it a good test indoors with some different metals under a rug and it pinpointed and identified different types perfectly, we then took it outside for a test with my daughter hiding a few metal objects under the surface of the lawn and then seeing if I could find them and the metal detector picked them up instantly I went over them along with a few nails and screws we found.

The volume of the detector is very good giving a good clear indication of detection, it does have an ear bud port which we tried and it works perfectly, the build quality seems very good and although lightweight it is very sturdy and being lightweight easy to sweep over the ground with ease even for a 10 year old child.

MindKoo True Wireless Earbuds (Upgrade Version) Bluetooth 4.2 Review

A very nice quality set of earbuds with a neat little charging box, after unpacking these I set the box charging while I read through the manual, this is a small manual with nothing complicated and has some diagrams to assist, the charging box is a nice little unit with a clip top lid and ideal pocket size and with up to 10 charges from a single charge of the charging box it’s ideal.

The process of pairing is very simple turning them both on simultaneously and letting them pair with each other, you then open the Bluetooth on your device and “M-6” should be discovered and once this is selected they connect and you are now ready to go, they will auto connect with this device next time without having to pair them again, I gave them a good test and the difference with a stereo sound compared to just one bud is like chalk and cheese and the sound produced was really superb.

Answering a call couldn’t be easier just touching the button on the headset, the music can be paused with a single touch on either earbud and a double tap takes you to the next song in your playlist, I found them very comfortable and after a short time of wearing them you forget they are there. I tested the range and found the connection solid up to around 28ft then started to get drop off which is in line with the 30ft connection claim a good range.

Virhuck 1:32 Scale Remote Control Rc Monster Truck Review

Fast fun and mad little monster truck, this arrived in a brown branded flip lid box with everything inside being solidly held down with wrap ties, the controller takes two AA batteries (not included) and you will need a small Philips head screwdriver to open the holding screw for the battery compartment, the instructions are all in English and very easy to follow if even needed.

After opening it all up and fitting some batteries in the controller I gave it a try out, it’s very fast for a small truck and the turning control works well even being able to get it to slid on a turn at speed to get a quick turnaround, I gave it a good run around even setting up a few jumps which it whizzed over no problem.

I found it to be very robust and no matter how many rolls and bumps it had there isn’t any damage, it’s very simple to remove the top from the monster truck by just removing the two rubber holding clips should you wish to and charging is a breeze with the USB charging lead and socket in the underside of the truck, it ran for over eleven minutes on a single charge and had a fast recharge rate so no waiting around hours for the next monster truck session.

I have added a short video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, fitting the batteries, pairing up the truck and giving it a run around the floor finishing with a quick jump over some books, hopefully the quality won’t be too bad as I often find video’s degrade somewhat when uploaded through the Amazon optimisation system.

Mospro Ultrasonic Cool Mist 3LT Humidifier Review

Huge capacity humidifier with high volume mist, this really is a beast of a humidifier that can deliver anything from a gentle mist to full on clouds of mist depending on the setting. I got this for our main room mainly because of the 3 litre capacity meaning it could run all day and evening without having to be refilled and with the auto no water shut off just switch itself off and be ready to refill the next day.

This has a very simple refill process by just removing a hand screw plug in the base of the tank you can fill it with up to 3 litres of water then you replace the screw plug and put the unit back on the base, as a note you should avoid touching the base plug when replacing the tank as it has a pressure release plunger when in situ and if you press it before putting the tank back you will release water.

Once filled I replaced the tank on the base unit and gave it a test, I found the unit very quiet while in use and on full power certainly pumps out a huge amount of mist, a 3 litre fill easily lasted 20 hours of constant use on 50% power with plenty left over and with a nice simple blue and white design it also looks very nice.

Fascol Foldable 3 Wheels Child's Scooter Review

Great little scooter, my daughter loves it, I was looking for a scooter suitable for my youngest daughter as she keeps trying to use her big sisters scooter which is a two wheel scooter and it’s a bit unstable and big for her so wanted to get her one of her own.

This looked ideal with the stability of three wheels and fun of light up wheels as she goes along, it arrived in a long box packed into bubble wrap coming with knee and elbow protectors along with a couple of alan keys, some spare/replacement bolts and screws and the manual.

Setting it up was very simple and the manual comes with clear instructions accompanied by pictures of the fittings, adjustments and settings, after it was set up my eldest daughter took it outside for a test, she is 10 years old and although this scooter has an age range between 3 and 12 I would say it would be more suited to an age range of between 3 and 8 although my eldest daughter is big for her age.

It’s lightweight but also very sturdy, the folding mechanism works very well and is simple enough for a child to use, the steering system works well and all the wheels light up once in motion as they should but best of all my youngest daughter is absolutely delighted with it now being able to scoot along with her big sister.

I have added a short video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, my eldest daughter giving it a test outside and how the wheels light up once in motion, please note the footage I got is crystal clear but due to size restraints I have had to reduce the quality somewhat and this also degrades considerable when uploaded but hopefully not too much.

Vatos RC Remote Control Helicopter Review

Great fun helicopter, I have a few mini drones and love flying them but thought it was about time I tried a remote control helicopter and this looked ideal to dip my toe in the water of helicopter flying.

It arrived in a branded lift top box all tightly packed with the helicopter being held down with a plastic strap at the bottom to stop it moving about and getting damaged in the box, it comes with the controller, mini Philips head screw driver, a few spare rotor blades and the USB connection charge lead. The manual is in multi languages but it includes English and the controls are very simple to understand.

I found this quite different to fly to a drone, although it has the normal up and down (power) control with the left stick the right stick controls the tilt forwards and backwards and pan round so to fly it you are lifting off and using the right stick to tilt the helicopter forwards or backwards using the pan to direct the helicopter while applying power from the left stick for motion, not really as complicated as it sounds.

I really like this helicopter, it’s very sturdy as I have crashed many times now getting used to the controls without the slightest sign of damage, I like the idea of being able to charge it from the controller, a very nice feature and the charge rate seems really quick although it does mean having six AA batteries in the controller. It’s very stable and has a really nice hover with the lights being a nice touch and I am really improving the more I fly it now being able to land it in set locations rather than crash landing :)

Andoer Camera Slider Rail Track Dolly Review

Really creative and useful photography and video aid, I love photography and taking video and my aspirations of production are somewhat out striped by my creative ability, I wanted something that would assist me with panning and linear motion video capture and photographs of objects from different angles keeping the same perspective and although for myself this was expensive it’s still a fraction of professional gear to do the same job.

It comes in a lift top box packed in custom foam along with a mini ball head for connecting the camera and a screw adapter taking the 3/8 inch screw hole to a 1/4 inch screw thread for a standard tripod fitting, I would say that you really need a wide base tripod for this to avoid topple and tilt strain movement and the tripods with a quick release catch will just bend with the weight at full extension.

The andoer camera slider is a heavy bit of kit but also precision manufactured to give a smooth glide across the panning or linear motion movement you can instantly see the high quality movement and finishing, I have a small tripod with a 3/8 inch screw which it fits straight onto but while taking shots have to hold the base solid to avoid movement which I am getting better at, I am planning to get a larger wide base tripod but my main objective for getting this is some close in macro shots and panning motion shots on ground level.

I found the motion really smooth and am finding I am getting better at running a smooth motion at a steady speed although I do expect to vastly improve the more I use it. I fitted my GoPro Hero5 to it and have recorded some different shots with different settings on the camera showing panning and linear motion using my small tripod and have been really impressed with the quality it produces.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing different tests of motion and panning I tried, please forgive any wobble it’s me getting used to the slider rather than any sticking in the smooth motion which I found to be flawless. Please note the footage I got is crystal clear but due to size restraints I have had to reduce the quality somewhat and this also degrades considerable when uploaded but hopefully not too much.

- Has a locking mechanism for when not in use

What I Didn’t Like

- There isn’t anything I can add here, it performs really well and the biggest flaw is my own ability, it takes a while to get used to how to control the motion but I’m getting there, if I do come across any issues I will edit and add them

FITFIRST Shiatsu Electric Foot Massager Review

Superb foot massage, I suffer from restless legs syndrome (Willis-Ekbom disease) and find great relief in a foot massage and although my wife is very understanding and will often give me a foot massage I wanted something that would take the undoubted chore away from her.

This arrived in a very big box which had the main machine packed between two cardboard holders to secure it with the main unit wrapped in a clear plastic bag, the manual was at the bottom of the box and power lead and adapter in plastic bags within the foot holes, I was pleased to see the unit is very heavy around 8kg with a good solid base so no chance of it moving around while being used.

After it was all unpacked I gave the manual a good read and was ready to give it a test, the power inlet is in the bottom and you can have the lead trail in any direction from that as it is raised from the ground on four solid rubber feet and the power lead is a really good length so no struggle getting it near a plug socket. After inserting my feet I tested the different modes, at first it’s rather a strange sensation but quickly becomes hugely relaxing and gives a superb massage.

The build quality of the foot massager is really nice and the touch button panel very responsive making it easy to switch modes, the heat setting gives a gentle warm rather than making it too hot, the air pressure feature is great gripping and holding your feet an extremely difficult sensation to describe but certainly a pleasant one. I can honestly say the massage it gives is better than any human massage I have ever received.

I have added a short video and will also add some pictures showing the unpacking and some usage switching the modes, after using it I had an amazing night’s sleep and my legs hardly moved when a normal night’s sleep without a massage results in my legs flicking all over the place often meaning a very disturbed night’s sleep for myself and my wife.  My wife also tried it out and loves it so it has now become an integral part of our wind down to bed time.
