BESTEK Fast Boil Cordless Water Kettle Review

Sleek and stylish efficient kettle, after my old kettle’s element failed I decided it was time to upgrade and replace it as the handle had also cracked and it had become difficult to lift so changing the element would not have solved the handle problem, I had a good look round at different kettles and this looked ideal with the blue LED’s being a neat idea, although I found many vendors of this product the main factors for purchasing this was the price and having already purchased an egg cooker from BESTEK which is a cracking little gadget I wanted to stay with a company that had already delivered high quality.

It arrived in a BESTEK branded box with the base and instructions on the top and kettle below packed securely between polystyrene, at first I thought it had a very short power cable but was pleased to see it wound discreetly under the base to around two and a half feet in length more than adequate for my needs and most kitchens I would think. I filled the kettle with a couple of table spoons of baking soda added the same amount of lemon juice then topped it up with water and left it overnight, I do this with all new pans and liquid containers as I find it removes any metallic taste you may get from manufacture.

I really liked the look of the kettle with the blue LED’s shining through the water when boiling and with the 1.7 litre capacity more than adequate for all my needs and best of all my wife approves of it even going as far as to say I made a good choice and it looks nice, I like the fact the lid is hinged as my old kettle had a push on lid which would often come off when pouring, the release button is smooth and works well.

I have added a short video and will also add some pictures showing the kettle working and just pouring myself some green tea my drink of choice during the day, I found it quick to boil, easy to pour and hopefully it shows how nice it looks when boiling with the blue LED’s.

Lesfit Folding 12 Stacking Clear Plastic Shoe Boxes Review

Good solid well-made shoe boxes, my wife is somewhat of a shoe collector and has more shoes than I have ever owned in my life so wanted me to get some form of storage for them as my idea of giving them to the charity shop didn’t go down to well, after having a good look round I decided on these as they looked ideal, I must admit I was a bit dubious as to if they would assemble into a good solid storage container but was very pleasantly surprised.

They arrived packed into a big brown box all in separate sleeves with an instruction leaflet, the instructions are somewhat basic but easy enough to follow and assembly is quite easy, the quality is consistent across all the packs and I didn’t have any issues assembling any of them, there are arrow ties for linking the boxes together to give added stability but I have yet to fit and secure these due to the fact my wife will change her mind several times before deciding on location and shape.

I found them to be really solid once assembled with all the draws sliding in and out without problems and my wife was really pleased seeing I had assembled them all by the time she returned home, I have added a video showing the assembly and will also add a few pictures which should help anyone struggling to assemble them, the only bit not very clear in the instructions to me which I have shown is folding down the little catch flaps when clipping the plastic surrounds on the top of the box and front of the draw so hopefully this assists someone.

BC Master 1080P 170° GPS Dash Cam Full HD Review

Great little dashcam that delivers high quality recording, I went for the DC10 with the GPS module and hardwire kit as I wanted the added feature of location identification with speed display on the recordings and planned to hardwire the dashcam so for an extra £17.00 it added this plus gave me all I needed to hardwire it. With it hardwired it takes away any need to have it plugged into the cigarette socket and automatically switches on and off when starting the car making it totally automatic.

It arrived in a black lift top box covered with a BC master branded sleeve, when opened the main camera was in a foam cut-out, instruction manual and spare double sided adhesive stickers in a plastic bag and in another cut-out it had the cigarette lighter adapter, although I will not be using this it’s worth noting it comes with additional USB ports in the cigarette socket which is handy and a nice feature. Under this it had three boxes containing the hardwire kit, GPS plugin module and the fittings for fixing the camera to the screen or alternative fitting for fixing on the dashboard.

After opening it all up I went through the menu which I have shown in my video and formatted the 32gig micro SD card I’m using, I find 32gig more than adequate for this as it has loop recording and overwrites the oldest recordings and additionally lock any impact or sharp braking recordings from being overwritten, once I had set everything up and tested the features it was time to get it fitted and grab some live footage.

The hard wire kit is a fairly simple process to fit using the fuse piggyback you just identify a fuse that’s power is only live when the car ignition is turned on and put the fuse piggyback in that, I identified the rear wipers on my car and after fixing the earth wire to a screw on the metal surround of the fuse panel tested it was working correctly switching on and off with the car ignition which it was, the rest of the job is just making sure everything is secured so it can’t move or work loose then I just ran the cable behind the trimming of the car up to the location I was fitting the camera which for me is just below the mirror although it can be fitted in any location due to the wide angle recording it will capture the whole road, side roads and paths both sides from any location on the screen. I fitted the GPS receiver in the corner on the opposite side of the dashboard using the same process of concealing the wire behind the trimming, all fairly straight forward and once finished very neat and inconspicuous.

I gave all the features a good test using some hard braking to test the G-Sensor which worked fine locking the recording, rocking the car to test the motion detection which worked as it should and went through the different recording resolutions all giving a crisp clear result. I wanted to test the GPS so first took the location reading from the video and put it into Google maps which instantly gave the location, I went to the BC master website and got the Registrator Viewer software and installed it on my desktop PC, this is a superb program in which you add the videos from the micro SD card and it will stack the journeys allowing you to view the video and it will display a map showing the full route moving the marker with the video and a display showing the speed you are traveling ideal for tracking a journey or exactly identifying an accident location.

Tacklife Digital Tape Measure Review

Good solid accurate and easy to use, after years of every time I went to measure something thinking I must get a digital tape measure I finally took the plunge and am very pleased I did as it’s not only easy to use and understand the settings it’s also deadly accurate.

It arrived in an oblong flip top branded box with the main unit on top in a plastic insert and under this it had a neat little carry pouch, a lanyard should you wish to attach it, two AAA batteries and the instructions, the instructions are fairly easy to understand going into good in depth detail on the different functions and features along with giving linked and tagged diagrams making it a lot easier to follow.

After unboxing it and inserting the batteries I tested it for accuracy checking it against a standard tape measure and it was spot on, I gave it a test with area measurement, volume measurement and Pythagoras measurement all spot on when I double checked the results with the standard tape measure which also took about five times longer to do, the subtraction and addition are a really neat features that I have no doubt will come in very handy.

THORVAP TC 100W E Cigarette Starter Kit Review

Nice solid powerful modbox with a very effective atomizer tank, this arrived in a neat slide sided branded blue and white box with the instructions on the top and modbox, atomizer tank, spare glass for the tank, spare coil and rubber seals fitted into custom slots in the black foam with the charging cable, dust cap and replacement silicone mouthpiece in a separate black box. I like to see these coming with spare parts for the tank and replacement coil something a lot of suppliers don’t give you.

The instructions are multilingual with the English being the first section, they are very clear and easy to follow with diagrams showing you exactly what you should be seeing at various stages, it also contains a FAQ sections a very helpful addition I have not seen in modbox instructions before and no doubt useful to anyone new to vaping or having issues.

After I unpacked it I looked at how to change the coil, this is something I always do with a new atomizer tank through previous experience of buying a new tank then struggling to find out how to take it apart to change the coil when it’s needed and I find it a much easier process if I already know. After doing this I put the modbox on charge and left the atomizer tank to fully soak in the juice, most recommend you leave it to soak around 5 minutes or so but I like to leave it longer.

The Thorvap TC 100w really is a beast, a heavy solid box as you would expect with a high capacity modbox and has a nice big ‘fire button’ which I like as it saves you struggling to find it when not looking, it starts up with 5 clicks on the fire button which seems to be the standard to turn on and off most modboxes, you enter the different modes with 3 clicks and 2 clicks changes the temperature mode from centigrade to fahrenheit or vice versa.

I will say at this point if you are new to vaping don’t be daunted by all the talk of different modes, with the coil and tank supplied I would suggest not worrying about different modes etc, fit the tank, fill the tank with juice and leave it to soak in a while, hit the fire button 5 times then put it to your mouth and press the fire button and test after that just adjust the air vents on the tank to control airflow to something you like and increase or decrease the wattage with the + and – buttons until you find a vape experience you like, everything else you can explore once you are happy.

The atomizer tank delivers a very nice smooth vape experience and brings a good flavour through, I have tried alternative silicone mouthpiece but prefer the standard black one it comes fitted with but this is a personal preference, I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing unpacking, showing how to change the coil then running through the different modes and a bit of vaping.

Toguard 12MP 1080P 120° Wide Angle Wildlife Camera Review

Great quality wildlife camera, I wanted to replace my old wildlife camera with a new one as my brother ‘borrowed’ mine a while ago and he likes it so much he keeps forgetting to return it so I finally said he could keep it as an early Christmas present and I would get a new one. I decided to get another Toguard as the quality with the old one was spot on.

It arrived in a Toguard branded black zipped case which opened up to a webbed top section containing two mounting ribbons with spring loaded metal clips on the end, a micro USB data lead and the manual, on the bottom section inserted into a foam cut out it contained the wildlife camera.

I gave the manual a good read, it’s very detailed and gives you a good step by step guide of setting it up and what all the features and functions do plus diagrams of the camera linked to descriptive text explaining what the parts are or do. As I have already been using a wildlife camera for a while I am used to the settings but they are easy to navigate and understand, I would point out a couple of things although covered you should be aware of, when the camera is ‘ON’ apart from the initial red led blinking the camera shows no signs what so ever of being active so you set everything up in test mode before switching it to the ‘ON’ position, after using it always switch it to the off position and don’t switch from ‘ON’ back to test mode before going to the off position first when changing settings.

After unwrapping it and inserting six AA batteries (don’t use rechargeable) and a 32gig micro SD card it was time to give it a test, I set it out round the bins as I was fairly sure I would capture one of the local cats raiding them and wasn’t disappointed, the night vision quality is superb and the area I set it up in has no lighting what so ever and it captured some good clear clean footage, I did try setting it out on the lawn to capture some birds with a bit of bread but didn’t get any interest due to the day being very wet but was still a good test of the waterproof feature as it hammered down and was bone dry inside. Just as a side note mine does not lose any settings when the batteries are removed and when replaced it is still set up exactly as before including the time and date settings.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, inserting the batteries and micro SD card then some capture of the cat raiding the bins and a bit of footage I did indoors just showing the same area in total darkness and normal light with some of my daughters clockwork toys.

UltraFire 18650 Rechargeable Batteries 2800mAh Review

Good quality and consistent, I have a Andoer 60 LED lamp I use and needed two batteries for it and after having a look round decided on these as they looked ideal for the job and good value for a pair of branded batteries.

They arrived in a small flip top box in individual boxes wrapped in bubble wrap protection and after opening them up I put them into my Andoer lamp and put them on charge as this has a charge socket built in, I do have a separate battery charger for charging 18650 batteries as I use ecigs that take them but have found it is rare I use it due to them already having inbuilt charge sockets (just as a note: these are not suitable for use in ecigs).

After charging I wanted to give them a good test and also have a torch that takes a single 18650 battery so thought this idea and fitted both batteries in it one after the other leaving it turned on until the battery totally drained, the first battery lasted 48 minutes and the second 47 minutes a very good result showing not only are they consistent but they lasted 22 minutes longer than the battery I am currently using in it.

GooBang Doo Android 7.1 BOX 2GB RAM 16GB ROM Review

Really nice compact and smooth running Android box, I got this for the TV in my daughters room, it’s a very nice older 32” LCD Samsung but is not a smart TV and rather than getting rid of a perfectly good TV just to upgrade to a newer smart TV we decided to add on an Android box giving it all the features of a smart TV and so much more without the constraints of only being able to install a limited and selected amount of applications.

We wanted something with the latest operating system, WiFi, the ability to take a micro SD card and USB stick, be compact but also look nice, we wanted a box that would be able to have anything available installed to it so quickly ruled out boxes with only 1GB of ram and 8GB of rom as there are now programs they won’t run and 1GB of memory is not enough for the latest Android operating system. We decided this one looked ideal and purchased it.

It arrived in a nice flip top branded box opening up to the main Android box with the power lead, HDMI cable, remote control and manual being in a section under the box, the manual runs you through the setup of the box and is very clear and easy to follow, once I had set it up and switched it on it runs through an on screen setup allowing you to connect the WiFi and either login with your Google account to use the play store or create one if not, all very easy to follow and once finished you are all set to go.

The menu is very clean and easy to navigate and you have the ability to pin any applications you add or use a lot to the main front page, I know a lot of people just get Android boxes to run Kodi but they really are missing out if this is all they use them for and I have now installed the BBC iplayer app, ITV Hub, channel 5 (My5), channel 4 (All4) and the YouTube application which all work very well for watching videos, catch up and live TV.

My daughter has added a few games and connected a wireless keyboard we had so can surf the net, most of the applications and many of the games from the play store are free and simple to install making the whole process very painless and you don’t need to add any payment details to use the play store, an android box is great for bringing an old TV up to date with smart TV’s and perfect for anyone who either has a poor TV signal or a room without an aerial socket.

I found the GooBang Doo android box to work flawlessly, a great speed and smooth operating menu system, it looks nice with the clock in the front and the remote control is not cluttered with pointless buttons no one ever uses and has a simple layout with all the buttons you need. I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, going through the setup, navigating through the menu, starting a few apps and installing the ITV Hub from the play store to show how easy it is.

- It looks nice and has a clock display on the front a very nice touch
- 2GB of ram and 16GB of rom meaning it won’t have any issues playing any application available
- Comes with the most up to date android operating system
- The menu is easy to navigate and does not have a mass of applications you may not want or never use preinstalled
- Very easy to set up with a good setup walkthrough when you first switch it on
- Comes with a micro SD card slot, two USB slots and a network connection should you wish to hard wire rather than use the wireless
