HOMTOYOU Mirofibre Flat Floor Mop Review

As I have laid wooden floors throughout my residence a quick and easy way to clean them is important to me so I was keen to test this floor mop. I normally light mop the floor then finish off with a wooden floor care product so need something that not only cleans well I need something that coats evenly, consistently and quickly also being able to change the pad is ideal as it saves me having to use two mops as I do now.

This arrived in a surprisingly small box, it didn’t have any instructions but was fairly easy to work out how it assembled, the quick release on the head for changing pads is a clever and efficient design that works really well, you have the ability to lengthen or shorten the mop depending on how many rods you add to the handle which is useful as I am 6ft but my wife is under 5ft so if she cleans the floors it needs to be shortened.

I gave it a good test using two pads, one to clean the floor and a second to apply the floor care coating and it worked really well but although it does claim ‘the mop will not be turned over when cleaning’ I found it did a couple of times while pulling back on the mop but overall it was very efficient.

Overall the mop works really well, covers a good area, the pads are very quick and easy to change and should you wish to you could make your own with any material you wanted to use. The mop head will turn over despite the claims and it didn’t have any instructions are the only negatives.

Joy-Jam Remote Control Stunt RC Car Review

Fun, fast and highly responsive, this arrived in a nice branded display box and everything was well packed inside with batteries included for the remote control although no Philips head screw driver for removing the covers on the RC car and remote control, not really a big deal as I am sure most people have a screw driver.

The instruction manual is fairly clear and easy to follow so after unpacking it I put the RC car battery on charge with the USB charger supplied, it say’s to charge for 8 hours on the first two charges then 5-6 hours subsequently which I did although I consider this a very long charge time for a child’s toy as I have others that will reach a full charge over 2 hours.

Once it was charged I fitted the two AA batteries supplied into the remote control and took my youngest daughter outside to give it a run round, first off I will say it’s very quick and the response time from the controller is virtually instant so once you get used to the controls you can spin it round at high speed accurately.

The car is very durable and after numerous hard knocks into solid objects it showed no damage at all and the rubber tyres work really well allowing it to easily cover different types of ground such as grass, earth and stones, my daughter loved playing with it even though she didn’t really have a good grasp of the controls it is easy for her to run it round tumbling and turning without fear of damage.

I do wish they had taken the charging process further removing the need to remove the battery to charge it, it really wouldn’t have been difficult to make the charge port inbuilt into the car at the back removing the need to remove the battery to charge it, the USB charge cable does have a red LED which lights up when charging a good visual indicator to see it’s charging and I don’t have a problem with it being USB charge as this is now a common way of charging for a multitude of devices and USB ports in homes are the norm now.

Overall this is a great little RC car, highly responsive and entertaining, the issues I do have with it are the long charge time and removing the battery just to charge it which means the intervention of an adult in most cases rather than a child just plugging it in their selves and the reason it does not get top marks from me.

Remington EP7300 3-in-1 Corded Epilator Review

Very effective and easy to use, my wife loves this and has been raving about how good it is, how she is never going back to shaving again and that she wishes she had one before.

This arrived in a Remington branded box containing the epilator, ultimate contour cap, detail cap, massage aloe vera cap, cleaning brush, power lead and instruction manual, the manual is  basic but has all the information you need along with a detailed numbered diagram to easily identify all the parts and their functions.

This gives great results on legs, under arm and very effective on delicate and smaller areas with the detail cap and with two speed selectable feature it gives better control for different types of hair growth and areas. This is simple to clean after use with the head being washable and the supplied brush cleans out any hair residue.

After my wife using this and raving about how good it was my main question was is it painful and the reply I got was no so to be fair I wanted to test it myself so decided to sacrifice the hairs on my hand. First off it really isn’t painful at all, I would guess that if you pull one hair out with tweezers you have an isolated area pulling up the skin while removing the hair but as this is spread over a larger area and is far quicker it makes it hardly noticeable

It removed all the hairs quickly and easily and really almost painless, it made the skin slightly red which disappeared after about a minute leaving no soreness, the area I did is now totally hair free and smooth.

Very nice budget EZbook/laptop/notebook, not really sure on all the different terms used but personally I would just call it a small laptop but I would guess they are named or defined by if they have a drive, network port, size or touchpad but the reality makes it a small portable computer regardless of the name.

This arrived well packed and protected in a brown branded box with the charger, instruction manual and a rubber keyboard protector something I wasn’t expecting but none the less a welcome and useful addition easy to fit, easy to remove for cleaning.

After unpacking it and giving it a full charge I set it up, all very straight forward with Windows 10 and you can have Cortana assist in the setup if you wish, either way it takes around ten minutes to set it up and you can connect to your WiFi and log into your Microsoft account if you have one while going through the setup or skip and do it later. The first thing I did was check for Windows updates and let it do its thing installing them, no matter what computer you buy there will almost always be updates for the system and I would always advise this as the first thing you do.

The default browser is Edge but as I normally use Chrome so I downloaded and installed that so I could log into my account and have it mirror the browser on my desktop PC, I then installed an anti virus, I use Avast which is free and fairly good but there are several free alternatives, now I was ready to give it a good test.

The touch pad is very responsive and works well but as I have been using a mouse for over 25 years I find I am much more comfortable using one so fitted a wireless one I have which is plug and play instantly recognised, I tested the micro SD card reader slot which worked perfectly and could play a video file from it without interruption or any stutter, I tested a USB 3.0 with a USB stick and found the transfer speeds fine and recognition instant.

This is a very light unit and also has a slot if you wish to fit a SSD (solid state drive) to either increase the capacity or the drive reading speed, I found this to be nice and quick, the display is nice and clear, all the speed tests I did gave good results, it played video from the internet seamlessly and handled browsing multitasking very well.

Overall I really like it, it’s not a high end gaming laptop but doesn’t pretend to be or have a price tag that reflects it, it starts nice and quick, handles multitasking very well, isn’t bloated with a load of software you don’t want or won’t ever use out of the box, the battery life is very good, it comes with two USB 3.0 ports and a micro SD card reader along with WiFi and Bluetooth so connecting it up to other devices isn’t a problem and I have given it full marks.

Russell Hobbs 24732 Desire Processor Food Mixer Review

As we all eat a lot of salads especially in the summer this is a welcome addition to the kitchen, we have a few hand held gadgets but haven’t really owned a processor unit so I was looking forward to trying this out.

It arrived in a nice branded box and everything inside packed into bespoke cardboard so no worries about getting damaged, the instructions are basic but sufficient enough to get you started. Once I had set it up I wanted to test out the functions so got a few things ready to try.

First off I tried out the grating/shredding with the reversible disk starting with some cheese and first impressions this really is a powerful machine grating a block of cheese in seconds, I then went on to grate some carrots again grated in no time at all, I did find a couple of larger chunks got through although I suspect this was because I pushed too hard as they went through and grated no problem second time. I reversed the disk and tried some chopping starting with a cucumber which it sliced in seconds, I followed this up with some carrots again it made short work of slicing these.

Swapping over attachments is really simple and I just gave the bowl a rinse out under the tap between trying things which was sufficient, I fitted the chopper attachment and it quickly diced some onions and potatoes with no effort at all and although it has two selectable speeds and a reverse I never found the need to go to the top speed.

I finished off by making a mixed fruit smoothie using the blender jug, again incredibly fast and mixed it perfectly. It has a safety lock so won’t start unless the base is locked in place and the lid in the case of the processor jug which works well as I found out, when lifting the processor bowel off I sometimes pulled the main spindle off as well but that is down to my inexperience not any design fault or flaw. I really liked the rubber suction feet which gave it a good solid base on a smooth surface.

HQBKING Wifi Car Dash Cam Full HD 1080P Mini Dash Cam Review

Straight off I will say I really like this dash cam, I got it mainly as it was easily removable with the magnetic clip system and had all the features I needed. Unfortunately we have had a spate of car break-ins around my area recently mainly targeting dash cams and satnavs left on show inside so wanted something that was quick and easy to remove when leaving the car and I don’t think you will find an easier dash cam to remove and refit than this.

I hard wired this with a simple kit I got off Amazon, it’s a fairly simple task and doesn’t involve any soldering as they use a piggyback fuse system, my fusebox is in the rear of my car so really the only time consuming bit was taking and concealing the wire along the trim of the car but even with that it took less than 30 mins.

The WiFi connection feature to the HQBKING app works really well and would even allow you to use it as a high quality reversing camera should you want to using your phone to view and giving a much better quality image than the normal plug in reversing cameras.

I gave all the features a good test and even selected a lower resolution although I will stick with the highest as with loop recording I will never run out of space on the micro SD card, 360 degree rotation works great and makes it easy to select the viewing angle you want and with the 170 degree super wide angle it captures everything both sides of the road including side roads.

The night vision seems really good and clear, I tested the G-sensor by gently rocking the car and it automatically captured the footage and lock it as it does on a sudden collision or jolt while driving. The HQBKING app is simple but works really well allowing you to alter settings should you wish along with syncing the time and date, allowing you to record, take snapshots, format the micro SD card, view recorded video either on your phone or from the dash cams micro SD card, the recording can be viewed in either portrait or full screen landscape.

Overall I am very pleased with this dash cam, the recording quality is really good, the night vision works well, it’s easy to remove and refit, the HQBKING app works really well and is nice and straight forward.

Aluminum USB-C Pass Through Multi-Port Adapter Review

I have been using this on a little laptop I have which is used mainly for my daughter doing her homework assignments, logging into the school portal to download homework, messing with her android phone adding music etc, it’s running windows 10 but doesn’t have a network connection which is a drawback as the home WiFi can be a bit sketchy sometimes so the network port or any card reading slots on this is ideal.

It comes in a simple plastic sleeve box and on Windows 10 its plug and play instantly recognised with not additional drivers to download or install. I tested all the USB 3.0 with a couple of USB thumb drives I have and transferred a few files and played some video directly and the speed was on a par with the direct USB 3.0 port connection on the laptop, I then tested a couple of USB 2.0 thumb drives I have which it recognised and worked again on a par with a direct USB connection into the ports on the laptop and also worked with a mix of USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 devices.

The laptop allocates a new drive letter to each new device added and you can copy and play from multiple devices on the USB hub, I tested both a micro SD card and a normal SD card and both worked fine, I tested the network connection which switched from WiFi to hardwire network automatically. I then went on to test the HDMI output which worked great and as is normal on Windows 10 if you don’t already have it set, right click, select display settings and make sure you have it set for multiple displays.

Overall this is a neat little unit with a space gray or what I would call brushed aluminium finish and deep blue LED’s behind the slots which makes guiding the connection in slightly easier, it did everything I asked of it and did it well so it gets top marks from me.
