HQBKING Wifi Car Dash Cam Full HD 1080P Mini Dash Cam Review

Straight off I will say I really like this dash cam, I got it mainly as it was easily removable with the magnetic clip system and had all the features I needed. Unfortunately we have had a spate of car break-ins around my area recently mainly targeting dash cams and satnavs left on show inside so wanted something that was quick and easy to remove when leaving the car and I don’t think you will find an easier dash cam to remove and refit than this.

I hard wired this with a simple kit I got off Amazon, it’s a fairly simple task and doesn’t involve any soldering as they use a piggyback fuse system, my fusebox is in the rear of my car so really the only time consuming bit was taking and concealing the wire along the trim of the car but even with that it took less than 30 mins.

The WiFi connection feature to the HQBKING app works really well and would even allow you to use it as a high quality reversing camera should you want to using your phone to view and giving a much better quality image than the normal plug in reversing cameras.

I gave all the features a good test and even selected a lower resolution although I will stick with the highest as with loop recording I will never run out of space on the micro SD card, 360 degree rotation works great and makes it easy to select the viewing angle you want and with the 170 degree super wide angle it captures everything both sides of the road including side roads.

The night vision seems really good and clear, I tested the G-sensor by gently rocking the car and it automatically captured the footage and lock it as it does on a sudden collision or jolt while driving. The HQBKING app is simple but works really well allowing you to alter settings should you wish along with syncing the time and date, allowing you to record, take snapshots, format the micro SD card, view recorded video either on your phone or from the dash cams micro SD card, the recording can be viewed in either portrait or full screen landscape.

Overall I am very pleased with this dash cam, the recording quality is really good, the night vision works well, it’s easy to remove and refit, the HQBKING app works really well and is nice and straight forward.

Junsun Dash Cam Full HD 1080P With Rear View Camera

High quality recording with plenty of options and added extras, the dash cam arrived in a nice custom made black box with a Junsun sleeve, the main camera at the top of the box protected by a foam cut out and all the listed contents under this including the 16gig micro SD memory card which is something most cameras don’t come with.

After I had opened it all up I had a good read through the manual, I found the manual to be very clear text and had supporting images with labels to identify all the buttons and functions on the camera, after setting it up indoors and going through the menu getting familiar with the settings and features I fitted it into the car, it comes with a suction fitting for the window that screws into the top of the camera with a locking system that is a very secure fit to the screen.

The rear camera plugs into the top of the camera and you need to run the cable to the rear of the car, I set it up on the top of the rear screen to the left corner, I was pleased to see it captured the full road behind from that point, the rear camera gives a in picture smaller screen on the main screen of the camera but the storing of the recordings is separated on the memory card in their own folders called ‘F’ and ‘R’ to indicate front and rear camera and each recording corresponds to the rear recording for example FILE180130-082234F.MOV and FILE180130-082234R.MOV which makes matching the recordings very simple.

The first thing I did on starting it up was to go through the LDWS (Lane Departure Warning System) calibration clearly explained in the manual, this can be turned on and off in the menu as can the FCDS (Forward Collision Detection System), both give verbal warnings when you are either too close to the car in front or drift out of lane. Once this was set up I went for a drive to test it out, I was very pleased with the recording quality which I found to be crystal clear on both of the highest level settings and although lower quality recording levels are available I can’t see any point or need to use them as the camera has a loop recording feature so you won't need to keep changing the card or deleting it's contents.

I was really pleased with the quality of the rear view camera capture and tested out the G-Sensor mode with a bit of sharp braking and this worked how it should as did the parking monitoring and motion detection putting the files in separate folders on the memory card which is also a nice helpful feature and you can view the clips using the mode button.

I have added a short video going through the menu system and giving day time and night time footage from both front and rear camera, my original video is of high quality but please be aware the video quality often degrades considerable when uploaded.
  • 4.0 inch IPS screen, Video resolution: Front camera (1920 * 1080P), rear-view camera (720 * 480P)
  • Junsun Car recorder, HD Dash Cam, DVR Accident Video Recorder with super wide-angle 170 degree lens infrared filter glass imports 6 glass lens, high temperature does not change color, 1080P HD night vision.
  • Wide Dynamic Range (WDR): for local exposure control frame (eliminates glare and dimming), HDR High Dynamic treatment: either high light or dark light, can efficiently synthesize high-quality images, lifelike color reproduction.
  • Loop-Cycle Recording: when the SD card is full, the camera will overwrite the previous recordings with the new files. You don't need to worry about the recording when the memory is full.
  • Lane position Warning. Automatic Motion/Crash/Vibration Detection/ Recording. With Highly sensitive G-sensor. Automatic video recording when a collision or crash is detected and the related video file will be locked and cannot be deleted.

What I liked
*************
- Good solid screen fitting

- Glass screen which always seems to give a better viewing experience
- Wide angle 170 degree recording capturing both sides of the road including paths and side roads

What I Didn’t Like

APEMAN Dash Cam With 1080P FHD 170°Wide Angle WDR Camera

This dash cam arrived in a nice black branded box with the camera part in a separate black box with removable protectors on both the front and back screen and protected with bubble wrap, the second box contained the manual, a short and long mini USB charging cable, cigarette adapter and a choice of two fitting mounts.

This has a nice glass display screen rather than the plastic ones on a lot of dash cams, I think it depends on your preference and always a bit of a trade-off, with the smaller more covert dash cams you have a tiny display but are easier to tuck behind the rear view mirror and forget about but then you are not able to see the live footage or the larger screen ones good for live footage. This is a bit in between the two, the screen is small but it has a very clear glass display so can go behind the rear view mirror or in a more visible area for viewing.

After giving the manual a good read through it was time to set it up, I added a video going through the menu with day time and night time driving, using the mini HDMI socket you are able to display to a TV screen or monitor which I did and recorded it going through the menu, please forgive the picture being slightly at an angle on the menu and you should also note the video will degrade when uploaded due to Amazons optimisation process with the original footage being of far higher quality. The menu system is very simple to navigate and most of the options are self-explanatory or fully explained in the manual.

This comes with two different types of fitting system, a windscreen sucker fitting system or a base that fits to the dashboard of your car, I decided to fit it with the sucker system although with the wide angle recording you can fit it just about any place you like on the screen and it will capture everything, in the video I show some motorway driving and you have a full view of all lanes including the hard shoulder.

The record quality is superb and I have grabbed a couple of screen shot which give a better idea of the quality, I tested the parking monitor by rocking the car and that kicked in and worked well, I also tested the G-sensor function with some hard breaking which also worked very well and the linking it up to your TV or monitor works great although you should be aware you need a mini HDMI to normal HDMI lead to do this (not supplied).

  • High Definition The FHD 1080P definition providing high resolution video, with the superior G-sensor function, supporting insurance claims to prove an incident, preventing disputes.
  • Excellent Functions The parking monitor can record a urgent video when it detect movement on the shut down mode and the motion detection helps you to record the video automatically when it detects motion and the loop recording helps you to save the latest video when the SD card is full, avoid data missing.
  • Advanced Features The 3 inch LCD allows you to view the clear and bright video in the camera, the 170 wide viewing angle allows you to shooting a wider vision video.
  • Qualified guarantee With built-in Lithium Polymer battery, the dash cam can perform better. Both Car charging or USB charging is available for the power supply.
  • Easy to use It is easy to use with the external buttons, suitable for all families. When you meet urgent problem you can press the emergency save button to lock the video. Support 4G-32G TF card.

What I liked
************
- Easy to navigate menu system
- A mass of different options and features
- Very high quality footage
- Comes well packed and protected in a bespoke branded box
- Very clear and easy to follow manual
- G-sensor works very well and is adjustable
- Good clear glass display screen
- HDMI output socket
- Wide angle recording

What I Didn’t Like
******************
- The manual could do with being larger print but being really picky with that and more an observation than a flaw as it’s easy to follow.

Summary
**********
Overall this is a very nice dash cam with very high quality capture, loads of features and functions, the glass screen gives a very nice and clear display and with the wide angle recording you can fit this any place you want to on the screen. If you have any questions please feel free to ask I will do my best to answer.
