WIMIUS 4K Action Camera - Waterproof Sports Cam Review

Due to someone of low morals stealing my action camera along with my cycle helmet just before Christmas I needed a new one and as I was being forced to buy another I wanted to get one a little bit smaller than the one that was taken as I wear it on the top of my cycle helmet so the smaller the better, this looked ideal plus I could get it the very next day on prime delivery.

It arrived in a Wimius branded zip sided case and on opening it all the camera fittings were in plastic bags with the manual, carry bag and some fittings being behind the webbing at the top and the camera, batteries and fittings being in the bottom, the bottom wasn’t a great fit and more of a ridged foam than my previous one. After unpacking I put the battery in the camera along with a micro USB card and put it on charge, I then had a read through the manual and installed the Wimius action cam app to my Android phone using the QR code on the back of the manual.

The camera has a mini HDMI socket something I find very handy as I have an adapter which only cost a couple of pounds that allows me to play directly to my PC monitor or TV displaying exactly what you see on the camera screen including the menu. I gave the camera a good test over the Christmas period along with recording some of my cycling footage I also tested the slow motion feature which worked very well and tested the waterproof case of the camera which worked perfectly. The Wimius action cam app works well and you can adjust many of the camera settings remotely using it along with the recording and picture taking ability.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing the unpacking, fitting the battery and micro USB card then showing some footage taken with the camera and testing the waterproof case, please note the footage is of crystal clear quality but due the size restraints and Amazons own video optimisation it will have degraded considerably so it is not an indication of the camera footage quality just usage.

What I liked

- More compact than my previous camera and slightly better on my cycle helmet
- Waterproof case and feature is superb
- Can also be used as a dashboard camera or webcam
- Masses of different attachments
- The manual is very easy to follow with clear instructions along with images and diagrams
- Spare battery
- Good application to control it on phone or tablet
- Multitude of different features and settings even excluding the ones not for this specific camera
- Very easy to use

What I Didn’t Like

- Several of the menu options are not applicable to this camera
- The case insert that holds the camera and fittings isn’t very good

Overall this is a really nice camera that gives great results, it is let down a bit by the case and really could do with a firmware update that gives it a bespoke menu, not an issue that effects the performance or even my usage so I have only deducted one star because of it, the manuals are very easy to follow and it has a nice easy to use phone application, overall a great action camera. WIMIUS 4K Touch Screen Sports Action Camera Review

Great little action camera kit that delivers superb footage, I got this as a surprise present for my wife as she has recently started scuba diving and had been dropping not to subtle hints on wanting a camera to record some underwater footage and this looked ideal.

It arrived in a nice custom Wimius branded box with a plastic window showing the camera through the box, after slipping the sleeve off there is a lift top box revealing the camera in its waterproof case on a stand and a separate compartment containing all the various fittings, batteries and instruction manual and after unpacking it I gave the instruction manual a good read through as I knew my wife would want me to explain how to use it and all the functions rather than read and learn herself. The manual is very clear and easy to follow giving diagrams backing up and linking to instructions and descriptions of functions and features.

After I was confident I knew how to set up the action camera and use it I downloaded the Wimius camera application using the QR code on the box, inserted the battery and micro SD card (not supplied) in the bottom of the camera and switched the camera on, the menu is very easy to navigate with a swipe to the left or right to change modes from photo to video, swipe down to bring up the WiFi, remote control,  screen lock and shutdown options and a cog icon in the bottom right corner that takes you to the main settings.

I set the date in the camera and it’s worth noting if you remove the battery this has to be reset, I then went on to look through the multitude of settings and features including time lapse recording, slow motion up to 8x, self-timer, video resolution up to 4k and loads more you can even set it to use as a car dash cam if you wish. I wanted to test the waterproof feature so decided to fill the bath and give it a test and it worked perfectly as it should not allowing a drop of water to penetrate the case, I then fitted it on my cycle helmet and took it with me to record a bit of footage on my daily ride which recorded some crystal clear footage very pleasing.

The Wimius application is very nice and works really well giving you the ability to adjust many of the settings remotely, record footage and take photos and is simple to set up just swiping down on the camera screen and selecting the WiFi icon then connecting the mobile device you are using then open up the Wimius app, I used my Android phone but the application is also available for IOS devices.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing unpacking the camera and showing all the attachments and fittings, starting the camera and going through the settings then recording some footage of testing the camera underwater then the footage from my cycle helmet.

- 170° super-wide view giving a great video capture area
- A multitude of settings and adjustments with the ability to record slow motion
- The camera looks great and is smaller than my action camera
- It has a micro HDMI socket on the side so with a simple and cheap adapter you can stream footage directly to a TV or computer screen
- Good value for a touch screen action camera
- My wife loves it one of the most important things

What I Didn’t Like
