Toguard 12MP 1080P 120° Wide Angle Wildlife Camera Review

Great quality wildlife camera, I wanted to replace my old wildlife camera with a new one as my brother ‘borrowed’ mine a while ago and he likes it so much he keeps forgetting to return it so I finally said he could keep it as an early Christmas present and I would get a new one. I decided to get another Toguard as the quality with the old one was spot on.

It arrived in a Toguard branded black zipped case which opened up to a webbed top section containing two mounting ribbons with spring loaded metal clips on the end, a micro USB data lead and the manual, on the bottom section inserted into a foam cut out it contained the wildlife camera.

I gave the manual a good read, it’s very detailed and gives you a good step by step guide of setting it up and what all the features and functions do plus diagrams of the camera linked to descriptive text explaining what the parts are or do. As I have already been using a wildlife camera for a while I am used to the settings but they are easy to navigate and understand, I would point out a couple of things although covered you should be aware of, when the camera is ‘ON’ apart from the initial red led blinking the camera shows no signs what so ever of being active so you set everything up in test mode before switching it to the ‘ON’ position, after using it always switch it to the off position and don’t switch from ‘ON’ back to test mode before going to the off position first when changing settings.

After unwrapping it and inserting six AA batteries (don’t use rechargeable) and a 32gig micro SD card it was time to give it a test, I set it out round the bins as I was fairly sure I would capture one of the local cats raiding them and wasn’t disappointed, the night vision quality is superb and the area I set it up in has no lighting what so ever and it captured some good clear clean footage, I did try setting it out on the lawn to capture some birds with a bit of bread but didn’t get any interest due to the day being very wet but was still a good test of the waterproof feature as it hammered down and was bone dry inside. Just as a side note mine does not lose any settings when the batteries are removed and when replaced it is still set up exactly as before including the time and date settings.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, inserting the batteries and micro SD card then some capture of the cat raiding the bins and a bit of footage I did indoors just showing the same area in total darkness and normal light with some of my daughters clockwork toys.

The trail camera is stable, weatherproof and can be left outdoors for extended periods of time.

- The straps work really well going through mounded slots on the rear of the camera making it easy to fix to posts or a tree

What I Didn’t Like

- More of an observation than a dislike, I would have liked it to have a chargeable on-board power source, I know you can power it via the DC Power but this is only practical when you have a nearby power source, that said with up to 6 months of stand-by time I never found it an issue.

UltraFire 18650 Rechargeable Batteries 2800mAh Review

Good quality and consistent, I have a Andoer 60 LED lamp I use and needed two batteries for it and after having a look round decided on these as they looked ideal for the job and good value for a pair of branded batteries.

They arrived in a small flip top box in individual boxes wrapped in bubble wrap protection and after opening them up I put them into my Andoer lamp and put them on charge as this has a charge socket built in, I do have a separate battery charger for charging 18650 batteries as I use ecigs that take them but have found it is rare I use it due to them already having inbuilt charge sockets (just as a note: these are not suitable for use in ecigs).

After charging I wanted to give them a good test and also have a torch that takes a single 18650 battery so thought this idea and fitted both batteries in it one after the other leaving it turned on until the battery totally drained, the first battery lasted 48 minutes and the second 47 minutes a very good result showing not only are they consistent but they lasted 22 minutes longer than the battery I am currently using in it.

GooBang Doo Android 7.1 BOX 2GB RAM 16GB ROM Review

Really nice compact and smooth running Android box, I got this for the TV in my daughters room, it’s a very nice older 32” LCD Samsung but is not a smart TV and rather than getting rid of a perfectly good TV just to upgrade to a newer smart TV we decided to add on an Android box giving it all the features of a smart TV and so much more without the constraints of only being able to install a limited and selected amount of applications.

We wanted something with the latest operating system, WiFi, the ability to take a micro SD card and USB stick, be compact but also look nice, we wanted a box that would be able to have anything available installed to it so quickly ruled out boxes with only 1GB of ram and 8GB of rom as there are now programs they won’t run and 1GB of memory is not enough for the latest Android operating system. We decided this one looked ideal and purchased it.

It arrived in a nice flip top branded box opening up to the main Android box with the power lead, HDMI cable, remote control and manual being in a section under the box, the manual runs you through the setup of the box and is very clear and easy to follow, once I had set it up and switched it on it runs through an on screen setup allowing you to connect the WiFi and either login with your Google account to use the play store or create one if not, all very easy to follow and once finished you are all set to go.

The menu is very clean and easy to navigate and you have the ability to pin any applications you add or use a lot to the main front page, I know a lot of people just get Android boxes to run Kodi but they really are missing out if this is all they use them for and I have now installed the BBC iplayer app, ITV Hub, channel 5 (My5), channel 4 (All4) and the YouTube application which all work very well for watching videos, catch up and live TV.

My daughter has added a few games and connected a wireless keyboard we had so can surf the net, most of the applications and many of the games from the play store are free and simple to install making the whole process very painless and you don’t need to add any payment details to use the play store, an android box is great for bringing an old TV up to date with smart TV’s and perfect for anyone who either has a poor TV signal or a room without an aerial socket.

I found the GooBang Doo android box to work flawlessly, a great speed and smooth operating menu system, it looks nice with the clock in the front and the remote control is not cluttered with pointless buttons no one ever uses and has a simple layout with all the buttons you need. I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, going through the setup, navigating through the menu, starting a few apps and installing the ITV Hub from the play store to show how easy it is.

WIMIUS 4K Touch Screen Sports Action Camera Review

Great little action camera kit that delivers superb footage, I got this as a surprise present for my wife as she has recently started scuba diving and had been dropping not to subtle hints on wanting a camera to record some underwater footage and this looked ideal.

It arrived in a nice custom Wimius branded box with a plastic window showing the camera through the box, after slipping the sleeve off there is a lift top box revealing the camera in its waterproof case on a stand and a separate compartment containing all the various fittings, batteries and instruction manual and after unpacking it I gave the instruction manual a good read through as I knew my wife would want me to explain how to use it and all the functions rather than read and learn herself. The manual is very clear and easy to follow giving diagrams backing up and linking to instructions and descriptions of functions and features.

After I was confident I knew how to set up the action camera and use it I downloaded the Wimius camera application using the QR code on the box, inserted the battery and micro SD card (not supplied) in the bottom of the camera and switched the camera on, the menu is very easy to navigate with a swipe to the left or right to change modes from photo to video, swipe down to bring up the WiFi, remote control,  screen lock and shutdown options and a cog icon in the bottom right corner that takes you to the main settings.

I set the date in the camera and it’s worth noting if you remove the battery this has to be reset, I then went on to look through the multitude of settings and features including time lapse recording, slow motion up to 8x, self-timer, video resolution up to 4k and loads more you can even set it to use as a car dash cam if you wish. I wanted to test the waterproof feature so decided to fill the bath and give it a test and it worked perfectly as it should not allowing a drop of water to penetrate the case, I then fitted it on my cycle helmet and took it with me to record a bit of footage on my daily ride which recorded some crystal clear footage very pleasing.

The Wimius application is very nice and works really well giving you the ability to adjust many of the settings remotely, record footage and take photos and is simple to set up just swiping down on the camera screen and selecting the WiFi icon then connecting the mobile device you are using then open up the Wimius app, I used my Android phone but the application is also available for IOS devices.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing unpacking the camera and showing all the attachments and fittings, starting the camera and going through the settings then recording some footage of testing the camera underwater then the footage from my cycle helmet.

Apollo 56pc High-Grade Auto Mechanics Tool Set Review

Good solid durable tool set, my car radiator needed changing and although years ago I did a lot maintenance on my own car I gradually slipped into just booking it into the garage but after getting a ridiculous quote to fit the radiator something I had done myself before I decided I should tackle the job myself the only problem being my tools are long gone.

After having a search through this looked the ideal tool set to do the job containing all the tools needed to complete the job so I purchased it. It arrived in a square cardboard box and the tool set was sealed in plastic, when I opened it there was a sponge layer of protection between the upper and lower levels so I removed this and examined the tools, they all seemed of very good quality with good grip handles but I would really see how good they are once I tackled the job on the car.

Fitting the radiator probably took about twice as long as the garage would have taken but even taking into account the cost of the tool set I saved over one hundred pounds, the tools performed perfectly without any issues what so ever, I examined the tools after as I have had tools before which look and feel good but after use you see bends in the screwdriver heads and metal bent in the inside of sockets making them useless for future use, I am pleased to say these tools held up superbly and apart from the normal oil and dirt from use the tools didn’t have a mark on them.

I have added a short video and will add some pictures just showing me opening up the box and looking at a few of the tools, the case is basic but does the job well and it’s a good size to slide away neatly.

VERNEE M5 4GB RAM 64GB ROM Android Phone Review

Lightning fast smooth running android phone, after my wife lost her android phone she had taken mine to use so have let her keep it and decided to treat myself to a new one, I wanted something with a bit more powerful with 4GB ram and 64GB of rom memory and this looked ideal with a price I was comfortable with so decided to go ahead and purchase.

It arrived in a custom white branded lift top box with the phone on the top and accessories below including the instruction manual, the first thing I noticed was how much slimmer and lighter it was than my previous android phone, I was pleased to see the phone sim and memory card inserted into the side of the phone rather than having to take the battery out and place them in slots under it as is the case with my old phone.

After unpacking it all I inserted my sim card along with a 16GB micro SD card and then ran through the setup system, all very straight forward and it walks you through the options, I added my WiFi then added the other options such as adding security including fingerprint recognition, adding Google accounts so I could use the play store. When it was all set up it went to the main screen, a very clean layout and I was pleased to see it had not been bloated out with a load of apps I didn’t want or would never use.

I gave it a good test running some apps, installing a few apps from the play store I wanted all very smooth and lightning fast, I tested the front 8 mega pixel front camera and rear 13 mega pixel cameras both giving clear sharp results on both still images and video recording, the phone has a good solid sound from the inbuilt speakers and something I really like about Android phones I was instantly able to set a MP3 track from my music list as a ring tone no hassle, on my iphone it takes ages to do dropping it to the computer, converting it, renaming it then uploading it again a real pain.

I tested the Bluetooth linking my portable speaker to it which worked flawlessly and gave me a good 30 meter range before I experienced any drop out, I tested the dual sim which worked perfectly although I will be using an extended memory card with mine as it means I can load it up with masses of music to listen to on my morning run.

I have added a video to my review and will also add some pictures running through inserting the sim and memory card, going through the setup adding finger print recognition then going to the menu starting a few programs, going to the play store, playing some youtube video and changing the wallpaper.

Fantime Bluetooth V4.1 Wireless Bluetooth Earbuds Review

Comfortable and stylish with a great sound, I purchased these for my daughter and she is extremely fussy with anything she has having to tick all the boxes the main one being looking good when she wears something so I allowed her to choose the ones she wanted and she liked the look of these.

They arrived in a plain brown flip top box which opened up to the main charging box containing the earbuds, under this it had the USB to micro USB charging lead, some different sized replacement earbud tips, a full detailed instruction manual and a quick start pairing guide. The look and feel of the headset and charging box is very nice and pairing them was very simple just turning on and pairing one of the headset looking for Fun 7 on the Bluetooth and when connected turning on the second headset which automatically paired with the first giving you the full stereo sound.

The music quality is very good and the noise cancelling works really well, I tested the call features which work flawlessly stopping and starting the music when making or receiving a call and automatically picking up from the same point as soon as you end the call, the pause and play feature works well and from a press on either earbud.

My daughter loves these and after changing the earbud tip to the smaller ones supplied say’s they are very solid and stable in her ear not falling out at all even when she is running, she finds the sound quality really nice and they are great for taking calls something she does a lot :)

Andoer Waterproof 60pcs LED Ultra Bright Lamp Review

Good solid waterproof LED lamp with a nice high beam, I wanted a light to mount on my camera but also one I could mount an action camera to for underwater shots, I have attempted a project mapping the bottom of a lake using a pulley system which worked really well but the main issue being lack of light and dull footage so this looked ideal for the job.

It arrived in a nice branded box and after unboxing it I was really pleased with the feel of it and weight, it was nice and solid being very well finished and came with several attachments for mounting on a camera and attaching an action camera, the instruction manual has a English section and gives you all the basics you need to know. It comes with three different filters which slip easily in the slot located at the front of the light.

I already had a couple of 18650 lithium batteries but you should note these are not supplied so you will need to get some, the fitting of these is simple just releasing the catch on the back of the light and lifting the hinged back cover and inserting them, this also houses the micro USB port for charging them. I first tested the lights three brightness modes which worked as they should and then went on to test the filters, I used the fittings to attach it to my canon camera which worked perfectly. I tested a bottom fitting having the light as a standalone which also worked well and then fitted an action camera to the top again it fitted perfectly.

I have added a video and will also add some pictures showing the unboxing, fitting the batteries, testing the light and filters, fitting it to my camera, fitting a stand on it and finally fitting my action camera to the top and giving it an underwater test in the bath, this worked perfectly and on inspection no leaks what so ever as it should be.
