TOGUARD Full HD 1080P Dashboard Camera with GPS Logger

This dash cam has some really impressive features, with the built in GPS tracking you have the ability to track your whole route using the PC video player software a simple case of loading the video and it shows you the speed and location on the route shown on a map with a moving arrow in synchronisation with the video playing on the screen, this makes it very easy should you have an incident to pin it to the exact location, time and speed you were travelling at.

Another feature I like with this dash cam is the mini HDMI port so you can link the camera to either a TV or PC screen and get live footage, I used this in my video to demonstrate the menu features (you would need a HDMI to mini HDMI lead is needed to do this).

There are some nice touches with this dash cam such as the micro USB power inlets, they have thought about the design and given you alternative inlets on both sides of the base which makes it a lot easier when fitting it being able to choose which port is easiest for you to use.

This dash cam can also be used with the FinalCam application for both iphone and android by scanning the QR code in the instruction manual or searching on relevant app store, this is a very well put together application and allows you to link your device via WiFi and get a live view and also adjust many of the settings on the camera or even record and take photos from it.

This is a very compact unit and ideal for putting behind the rear view mirror as I have done and you don’t even know it’s there although you could place it just about anywhere on the screen due to the wide angle lens you capture everything both sides of the road as well as side roads and paths.

The camera footage is superb and you have several different options depending on your preferences, I set it to the highest level although I did test the others and all gave great footage both day and night vision. I tested the G-Sensor feature which worked as it should locking the files and the advanced driver assistance systems something I have not seen before which should be very handy.

The camera comes with everything you need to get it up and running with the exception of a micro USB card and the cigarette adaptor gives you an additional USB port, I did like that the lead was not moulded into the cigarette adaptor as some are so you could use it on any adaptor you want.

I have added a video showing first the menu system recorded off my TV then going on to show capture of the video running through the PC video player software both day and night, I then finish the video with some day and night driving footage, please be aware this video will degrade considerable when uploaded through Amazon’s video optimisation system so hopefully it should give you a good idea of features and functions but the video quality is of a much higher quality on the original footage.

BC Master 1080P 170° Dash Cam with GPS module

You have to love simple, plug and play devices.
Love them even more, when they deliver what they advertise.

Very nicely presented, this kit comes fully loaded. It even features a hardwire kit (12V to 5V step-down) and a fuse splitter, meaning that provided you can find an ignition supply fuse in your board, you can fit this in an hour easily. – I’d recommend using a 10A fuse if you can find one.
It also has the more traditional cigarette lighter male end connector, thoughtfully fitted with two spare USB slots for phone charging etc.

Fixing to the dash is simple. There are two supplied methods: A suction cup with full articulation and a sticky pad connector. You can fit this cam pretty much anywhere, as it has a 170 degree viewing angle. I chose to fit mine behind the rear view mirror.

The camera itself is feature packed with an array of adjustable settings. The menu’s are intuitive and the button pushes are precise. The GPS is automatically enabled and requires no setup, other than plugging it into the camera and sticking it on the dash.

I was curious as to why all the camera sockets were in the top of it, meaning the wires trail over it, then down, but I realised it’s because of the hardwire option. By plugging in to the top, the wires can all but be hidden in the roof/windscreen seals and run behind the dash. – There’s plenty of length.
There’s very little to worry about with this camera. It self actuates when the power is on and switches off just after you do. Just add a decent micro usb card and you’re good to go. -From box to recording can be accomplished in under 5 minutes. You don’t even need to worry about saving those important clips either. The system will overwrite if the disk is full, but any accident involving a bump will trigger the g-shock system (if active) and automatically lock the relevant video. You can also lock a video manually with a simple button push if you are witness to an event you’re not involved in.
I tested this in high def, low def and at night and it performed beautifully. The footage was crisp and clear, but sadly, uploading it to here reduces the quality and doesn’t do it justice I’m afraid.

Overall, the simplicity of the set up, coupled with the myriad of accessories and camera features makes this an excellent buy. The hardwire kits aren’t cheap to buy as a standalone and this has one as standard.

Brilliant.
