I have been after getting an air fryer for a long time but have backed out several times just before purchase really having reservations on how good they are, after getting myself a cheap air popcorn maker several weeks ago and being impressed I decided it was time to take the plunge and get myself an air fryer.
I had been looking at them for a long time already before purchasing and as the Ernovo Air Fryer fitted everything I had decided I wanted it was the one I went for. I wanted something with a decent capacity, simple to use, simple no hassle stop and start, easy to clean with parts I could just put in the dishwasher and it may sound a bit silly but I wanted one with a window so I could see things cooking or check they are not burning without having to open up the oven.
It’s a good weight and solid with a simple touch screen operation you can either use the pre-sets or set the time and temperature yourself, the basket supplied is a good size and will take four chicken drumsticks single stacked or around ten multi stacked, the instruction manual is very easy to follow even including some recipes to try out.
I tested it out first with some ‘real’ chips, oven chips fill a need but you really can’t beat home cooked fried potato chips so I wanted to see how near it got to the taste of deep fried chips and must say I was very impressed and would even go as far as to say it would be very hard to tell them apart from deep fried chips in a blind taste test.
I decided to try one of the recipes from the instruction manual next spicy fried chicken drumsticks which turned out great and cooked thoroughly right through; they had that great fried crisp texture along with tasting really nice and my wife particularly like these.
I wanted to try a few different things so put some sausages in with a gammon steak adding no oil at all and they turned out great then I decided to try something a bit different so made a sponge mix and cooked a small cake, first attempt I set the temperature too high and it was a bit to brown on top by the time it cooked but second time setting it on 160 it was perfect.
Overall this is a very nice item I am very pleased with, I always fear when I get a new kitchen gadget it will end up in the cupboard being too much hassle to get out but this now has its own spot in the kitchen and has been used daily since I got it so won’t be seeing the inside of my cupboards ever.
